Select a single segment of a surface or mesh, similar to how it is done in the video

Question

Hello! I am trying to select items in the lesson assets rhino model in the same way that is demonstrated in the video - currently on the 3D polysurfaces part around 88% of the way through but this is done throughout the whole segment, starting with the "surface cylinder (closed one direction)".  It seems like I should be able to select only one polyline but if I try to select in the same way, I just end out selecting the whole object. I am hoping someone can explain what I'm doing differently; did I miss something?

Hi Daniel,There are two ways to select sub objects:Hold your SHIFT and CTRL keys togheter and select the sub-object (left mouse click)In the bottom there is a menu called Filter objects. Select the &#x27;sub-objects&#x27; check box and you&#x27;re also able to select subobjects.
