Is there a graphic alternative to algebraic function?

If the centers of the tangent arcs can be restrained to an axis, then inputs from the 2 circles will provide sufficient geometrical info to construct the tangent arcs. Is there a way to do this by specifying geometrical behavior instead of algebraic function, of course while keeping the variables for the radii of the 2 circles and the distance between their centers?

You Can try with domain and range of the Venn Diagram of two possibilities, I had the same question while trying to construct the geometry, but I came up with a conclusion that this way decomposes the structure of the Curve geometry in a detailed way which would help you further more make any manipulation of the curve much easier, I personally tried different ways, and they all boiled down to manipulate the space in between rather than an actual point. but again that's only my experience.
