I am trying to select the curve while using the edgesrf option. It isn't letting me select anything. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

I'm have never used 3d software before so please explain like you would to a 3 year old :)

I think the curve is joined, edge surf requires open curves. Select the curve and use the explode command then you should have 4x curves. Run edge surf again and it should work.
