After deviding the surface, I added the culls and the branches, however my branches are vertical unlike yours. Which seems to disturb the pattern later on. Is there away to fix this. Thank you.

Just to add, besides Rodrigo's method, is you can use the direction command in Rhino.
Now you've reversed the UV direction of the surface, so the points/branches should align horizontally.

I think this is happening because of the way you constructed de surface. If you look at 00:47 you can see the order of how the 4pt surface is created. Basically you need you U, V orientation in that way to have the branch selections in an horizontal way.
